Ihor is a small boy, both short and slender, with very short brown hair and very pale skin. His hands are also quite small, almost dainty - but he doesn't seem particularly graceful with them, and his ragged, regularly-nibbled nails don't fit with the illusion of daintiness. He seems to blink somewhat more often than usual, as if he's perpetually just awakening from sleep.
He is wearing a light blue uniform with a patch indicating his launch group.
- Full Name:
- Ihor Ctiborovych Kalashnik
- Gender:
- Male
- Place of Birth:
- Mykolaiv, Mykolayivschyna, Ukraine
- Background:
- Ihor is the younger child of Ukrainian nationalists; his older brother raised him more than his parents did, as they were often out of the apartment. He interpreted "we need to never draw attention to ourselves, Ihorek" as "always seem at least two steps stupider than your classmates", and put considerable effort into doing so. During the day, he put up with teachers confusing him for a younger boy (or, worse, a younger girl) and classmates teasing him for the teachers' confusion, his apparent dullness, and his stubbornly-non-Russified name; at night, he did his brother's homework for him, and carefully studied the teachers' manual so that he would answer 'correctly' for the persona he was evoking.
Nine months before his sixth birthday, his parents agreed to the IF's request to send him to Ground School. There, he stubbornly spoke Common rather than Russian (since Ukrainian wasn't an option), got into fights over his name and his accent, and continued doing his best to pretend he wasn't substantially smarter than the rest of his class, right up until the moment CPT Sartain invited him to Battle School. - Personality:
- Ihor is one of those people who thrives on almost no sleep - when he's an adult, that might mean three hours a night, while as a launchie it meant he had no problem adjusting either to the time zone change or to only getting eight hours a night. He often intentionally makes himself seem sleepier than he is, though, especially if he knows other people know he's been up all night. He likes: surprising people; contributing that final bit that makes a project finally work; getting perfect scores on assignments. He dislikes: having attention drawn to how short he is; being confused for a girl; being called stupid. He hates: any name-based puns; all nicknames. He really, really loathes: being called a Russian.
The "rp" message of Ihor (#25039):
Ihor would like it to be known that his name is not Igor; he is not Frankenstein's assistant; he is not Russian; no, seriously, he isn't Russian; his name is also not Ick, Icky, Sticky, or Licky; and finally, no, you can't check your deskwork answers against his.
